Faux-Paint Zelda ~ (The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess)

A less-simplified vector portrait of Princess Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess than its predecessor, Faux-Paint Midna. Still a "new meets old" mix of vector drawing in Adobe Illustrator meets the styling/texture influence of a traditional oil portrait.

About the Piece:

After completing the Faux-Paint Midna portrait, I knew I wanted to do Princess Zelda next seeing as they are "two sides of the same coin". It was only appropriate! I also knew, though, that Princess Zelda would be a much more difficult and tedious piece just because of her outfit/accessories. After quite a few hours of working on the core of the portrait in Illustrator, I made the decision to add some extra shading to give it more depth and realism even though that is something I specifically left out in the Midna piece. Zelda's portrait is so much more intricate overall, though, that I felt this piece really called for some additional detailing. Slight shading was added mostly to her face and is by no means ultra realistic, but I think it makes all the difference in the world. The Princess Zelda of Twilight Princess is by far the most stoic and serious to have appeared in the game series and the game's appearance is ultra-realistic; some added shaded just to accentuate her face/skin was definitely in order. I really like how this one came out. It's a very serious and almost melancholy portrait, but it's fitting for the circumstances of the game and thus a portrait a citizen of Hyrule might expect to see of their princess during such a time. I really hope other Zelda fans enjoy this one as much as I do.
